American Repertory Theater of Western New York receives incorporation status from New York State

 

May 21st, 2007

American Repertory Theater of Western New York, Inc is officially granted Non-For-Profit status receiving a Federal 501 C3 certification.

 

September 14th, 2007

As part of the 2007 Curtain Up! celebration American Repertory Theater throws a debutant party at the Town Ballroom, located in Buffalo, New York. The evening featuring an original one-act "Superhero Blues" musical acts "Caribbean Extravaganza" "Barroom Buzzards", "Dick Whiskey" and Grammy nominated recording artist Vanessa Carlton.

 

January 10th, 2008 

ART begins it's inaugural season with the critically acclaimed original play "Axeman's Jazz", written by Matthew LaChiusa, at Rust Belt Books, located in Buffalo, New York. Play receives an Artvoice "Best of Buffalo 2008" nomination for "Best Production".

February 22nd, 2008

The second production of ART's 2007-08 season featured the Mark Medoff's 1973 classic Obie award winning play,  "When Ya Comin' Back, Red Ryder" at Theaterloft, Buffalo, New York.

 

 

 

June 2nd, 2008

In it's inaugural season, ART has two shows up for region's award ceremony, called the "Arties", for outstanding facets of Buffalo theater. "Axeman's Jazz" is nominated for "Best New Play" and "The Rose Tattoo" is nominated for "Best Ensemble".
