About A.R.T.

Hello. My name is Matthew LaChiusa and I am the Artistic Director for the American Repertory Theater of Western New York. I am proud and excited to announce the arrival of A.R.T. onto the regional scene. As the theater grows, I invite you to join us on the beginning of our journey and watch A.R.T. evolve into a premier cultural organization.

I have been blessed with a really strong board who is committed to ensuring the success of ART by being accountable and responsible to the mission that we have set forth. We love the art that is within us, and the passion found within the creative process! It is our intention to guide our guests in discovering their own passion and merriment for time well spent, whether through a performance or one of our community dialog programs.

As we move forward with our 21st Century theater company, we look forward to meeting and cultivating partnerships with likeminded individuals, businesses, artists and community members who share the same ideas presented in our mission statement. It is critically important for us to maintain a high standard of quality while embracing the challenge of attempting the "unique and creative".

I am a proponent of the old adage that "actions speak louder than words". While I could go on about all the beliefs that have led me to finally begin this theater company, I would rather let my efforts do the talking. I accept the challenge of making our community a better place in which to live, work and play by creating a theater a company that will bring all facets of our community together at a common crossroads.

I am hopeful that you will become a regular visitor to our site, which will continually be updated and expanded. I also look forward to seeing you at our theatrical and community service programs. I am very interested in hearing your thoughts regarding ART. Now on to business...and some fun!
